The Scottish Casting Association 2006

The Scottish Casting Association has been set up by five of the angling world’s leading casting instructors and angling personalities to promote and enhance the level of casting expertise in Scotland.   The group, which comprises of Scott Mackenzie, Ian Gordon, Bill Drury, Gary Scott and Eoin Fairgrieve, have an unrivalled accumulation of expertise and experience in not only teaching casting, but also in angling.   Three times world Speycasting Champion and world record holder, Scott Mackenzie says ‘The purpose of setting up the Scottish Casting Association (SCA) is to not only develop excellence in all disciplines of fly and bait casting, but also to encourage youth development through the sport of casting.   Our remit is also about introducing all ages and social backgrounds to the spectrum of angling opportunities available in Scotland.’

The group, who will represent Scotland at the forthcoming Emerald World Speycasting Championships in Ireland in September, are a hugely experienced collection of ghillies and instructors.   Well known spey casting instructor, Eoin Fairgrieve commented ‘ We look forward with great pride to being ambassadors for Scotland on a worldwide platform.   This is far more than competing at such a prestigious event for major prize money.   This is about representing our country and promoting Scotland’s outlook and commitment to the development of fly casting as a sport to an international audience.   Eoin added ’ Although the Emerald World Championships is a professional event, each member of the team has pledged that any winnings will be donated to youth development within the SCA.   We as founding members of ICSF World Championships & Emerald World Masters. the SCA have all enjoyed wonderful opportunities through our sport and the team are fully committed to investing both time and money into the sustainability of casting and ultimately, angling in Scotland.’
