Ranging from – 9’6” through to 16 feet, anglers will find in this range, a rod to suit any fresh water fly-fishing scenario.

9’6” & 10’ 6” IGS. Middle – Tip action, single handed rods. These come with a fighting butt, and full length butt extension, the perfect combination for Sea Trout, Grilse Trout anglers fishing small rivers. Along with providing anglers with a good stepping stone between single and double handed rods, these are also ideal for those 8 – 12 year olds wishing to develop a good double handed technique.
9ft6 and 10ft6 IGS.
12’ Four Piece – Small River or Summer Rod, ideally suited to fishing for Grilse and Sea trout. This exceptionally light but powerful rod will handle both floating and sunk lines. With each section measuring only 3 feet in length, it also travels well. Match with the “Partridge IGS” Short Head 7 – 8, 38g line.
13’ – This is a small river rod with lots of backbone. Anglers fishing rivers such as the Findhorn, Deveron and Tyne, will find this a dream to fish with when matched with the Partridge IGS Short Head 8 – 9, 42g line. The four section rod will easily handle sunk lines, as well as coping with strong wind. The 27 inch full length handle gives the angler better control of longer lines.

As this is the most common size of double handed rod used by women, I have incorporated two actions of 14 foot rod into the range. Both are very light, extremely well balanced, and will complement most casting techniques. Both are well equipped to comfortably cast lines of up to 35 yards.
14’ Soft Action – This rod will suit the caster with a more traditional [long forward stroke] technique. Anglers brought up with cane, or glass fibre rods will find this ultra light rod a pleasure to fish with, designed with the more mature angler in mind. Match with the Partridge IGS 9 – 10, 46g Short or Mid Line. Personally, my favourite fishing rod.
14’ Fast Action – This rod has an action that will complement anglers who have been brought up with high modulus carbon and are more used to casting with fast, shorter forward stroke. The rod is extremely responsive and transfers its energy amazingly quickly back into the line. All of this leads to greater line speed along with tighter, faster loops. This is a medium to large river rod, Ideal for rivers such as the Dee, Spey, Deveron, Connon or Naver. Match with Partridge IGS 9 – 10 Short or 10 – 11 Mid Head line.
Because 15 feet is the most common size of double handed rod, I again incorporated two different actions into the range. This, along with a six section 15 footer, I felt covered most fishing scenarios.
15’ Slow Action – As with the 14 foot Softer rod, this rod will suit the caster with a more traditional [long forward stroke] technique. Anglers brought up with cane, or glass fibre rods will find this ultra light rod a pleasure to fish with, designed with the more mature angler in mind. The main difference is the ideal line weight, which in the case of this rod, is around 50g or the Partridge IGS 10 – 11 Short or Mid Head lines. These rods also carry a sunk line very well, and are suited to Medium or large rivers such as the Spey, Dee and Tweed.
15’ Fast Action – As per the 14foot faster rod, this rod has an action that will complement anglers who have been brought up with high modulus carbon and are more used to casting with fast, shorter forward stroke. The rod is extremely responsive and transfers its energy amazingly quickly back into the line. All of this leads to greater line speed along with tighter, faster loops. This is a medium to large river rod, Ideal for rivers such as the Dee, Spey, or Tweed. Depending on casting technique, match with Partridge IGS 10 – 11 short head or 11 – 12 mid head line.
15’ Six Piece Travel Rod. 15’ Six Piece Travel Rod – With an action somewhere between the two rods above, this is a real multipurpose piece of kit. With each section only 3 feet long, it makes this the ideal rod for anglers travelling. Small enough to fit into the overhead locker of most aircraft, it means no more waiting, hoping that your rods have arrived safely. Unlike some other six piece rods, strength and balance are not compromised by the multi sections. Match with a Partridge IGS 10 – 11 Short and 11 – 12 mid line for the best casting results.
16’ – “So Sweet” for a big stick, “I can’t believe this is sixteen foot” “It feels so light and well balanced, but also powerful”, were some of the many positive comments regarding this rod. This really does give the angler a real power house when fishing larger rivers such as the Tay, Tweed Spey and Ness. It also lends itself well to the rigors of spring or autumn fishing with fast sinking lines and large tube flies.
Match with the Partridge IGS 11 – 12 Short and Mid Head lines for best casting results.
Summary –
All through the range the angler will find a quality, along with an extremely light, well balanced rod.
From small to large rivers, from eight year olds to eighty year olds, from first class casters to fair casters, from fast to slow techniques, there is something in this range for everyone, and all at a competitive cost.
When purchasing both rods and lines, remember –

1. The rod itself does not create tight loops, the people casting them do!

2. With regard to Spey Lines, remember – Only an accomplished caster can handle lines with head lengths of more than five times that of the rod. E.g. 15 feet rod = 75 feet max head length. 12 feet rod = 60 feet max head length.

3. Go to a qualified casting instructor. Having studied your personal technique, He/She will point you in the right direction regarding a rod and line.

4. Steer clear of products promising you an extra 10 yards on your casting. No product can do this, only you can!

5. Match the correct rod with the – Size of river you mainly fish.
